Lever/Pad

If you wish to upgrade to dual spindle levers you'll need to remove the window handles you have already installed and take apart the lock case. This will require an extra split cylinder inline. You may need to loosen the screws even more in the event that they are not tight, and then you can remove the old spindle and handle and install your new door handle made of upvc. Before screwing the handle into the frame, it is a good idea to make sure it is in the correct position. You can do this by inserting your finger in the space between the door frame and the handle to ensure that it is in a level position.

Lever/Lever

Lever door handles function as a multi point lock using an Euro cylinder. They can be found on a majority of upvc double doors, aluminium doors and a few wooden doors. They have a lever inside and an outside paddle and are usually supplied in two different types. Sprung - they come with a spring cassette within the backplate to help move the handle lever to an upright position. Non-sprung - they do not have a spring mechanism, and must be manually pulled to bring the handle lever to the horizontal position.

To fix a door handle that is sagging, you will need to locate the detent access hole or pin, which is typically an elongated or rectangular with a protruding hole that is located on the opposite side of the handle base plate. Once located you can loosen the set screw using a screwdriver and remove it to release the lever, allowing it to return to the horizontal position.

Once the handle is in a horizontal position, you can put the screws back in place and tighten them until the handle is secured to the base plate. You may want to apply a threadlocking solution to the threads of screws to improve grip and prevent them from loosing over time.

There are many reasons why door handles of levers slide. The most common reason is that the fixings aren't tight and the lever bearing to bind against the door. It could also be that the levers may not have been adjusted at the right angle, which compresses the latch mechanism and stops it from fully springing into motion.

The most common reason for spring levers that are not functioning properly is the spring not being in the proper position on the backplate. The simplest way to check this is to turn the handle to see whether it returns to its horizontal position.
